Runna Announces New Updates Further Supporting Year-Round Training, Including ‘Adapt for Heat’ Feature That Adjusts Sessions In Hot and Humid Weather

Available to all subscribers, new features adapt training during hotter conditions and enable multiple training plans to be scheduled in advance, while updated training plan supports recovery post race-day.

LONDON, UK – 29th July, 2026: Runna, the world’s top-rated running coaching app, has announced a suite of new updates that have been developed to support year-round training. The updates reflect the brand’s continued investment in developing product features and plans that help people achieve their training goals beyond race-day. The Adapt for Heat feature is available in the app from today, with Upcoming Plans and the revamped Post-Race Recovery Plans coming in August.

Recent research undertaken found that 80% of Runna’s community adapt or skip runs because of hot weather. With the new Adapt for Heat feature, pace targets are appropriately adjusted during hot and humid conditions meaning that even when the hottest temperatures sweep through the summer months, runners are still able to train effectively and safely:

  • Know the best time to run: A colour-coded hourly forecast, based on local weather conditions, shows runners when the day is at its hottest (and coolest), so they can pick the best training window that works for them.
  • Same training benefit, smarter pacing: By reducing the pace of a run during hotter conditions, the same training benefit is experienced when running at a quicker pace on a cooler day. With this latest feature, coach-recommended adjustments to training sessions match pace effort to weather conditions, helping people train smarter when the temperature rises.
  • Personalised to each runner: Every adjustment is safely calculated from feels-like temperature, workout duration, and the specific session from each individual runner’s personalised training plan.

A highly requested feature also being introduced this summer is Upcoming Plans, which allows runners to create and schedule multiple training plans in advance so they can plan and see their entire year of training in one glance. Mapping out future goals and automatically transitioning from one plan to the next, this feature creates a seamless training experience with each plan building on the last:

  • Plan the whole year in minutes: Runners can stack races, stepping-stone goals, and training blocks so their entire year is visible in one view.
  • Zero admin between plans: No rebuilding or starting over – your preferred training schedule, estimated race times and current performance ability are carried into the next plan as soon as the current one ends.
  • Fully flexible, always in control: Every plan can be edited, swapped, or removed at any time, meaning runners still have full control over their training experience
  • Built for progression: Each plan is designed by Runna's expert coaches using established training principles to support sustainable progression, recovery and race-day preparation.

And finally is the relaunch of Post-Race Recovery Plan. A structured and personalised plan designed by expert coaches automatically created the moment a runner starts a 5k-50k race plan, so that by race day a plan on how to recover properly after crossing the finish line is already waiting:

  • Nothing to set up: Recovery is built in from the start, giving runners exactly what they need to sensibly ease back into training and maintain long-term progress after finishing a race.
  • Personalised to each runner: A safe return to running is built around each individual runner’s distance, pace and real-world performances
  • Protects progress: Post-Race Recovery eases runners back at the right pace, helping them avoid common post-race mistakes – doing too much too soon, or stopping being active altogether
  • A clear next step: It gives every runner a guided pathway into whatever comes next, whether that's another race, training for a PB or just staying fit – and it connects directly into Upcoming Plans, so race, recovery, and the next goal are always linked

"Running isn't only about getting race-ready - it's one of the most effective ways to stay active throughout the year. Recovery is also a key part of everyone’s running journey to prevent plateaus in training and reduce burnout or injury risk, which is why we build it into every plan from day one,” said Steph Kessell, Runna Head Coach and Former Olympian. “These updates help people throughout the full running journey; smart training when temperatures rise, seamless progression from one goal to the next, and a clear way to continue running with recovery a central part of their plan."
